Tunisian road network seems to outstretch now that new fund has been obtained. The Tunisian Assembly of the Representatives of the People has approved two loans worth a total of almost $208 million from the African Development Bank (ADB). To be repaid over 20 years, these loans will help invest road infrastructure developments from 2016 to 2020. The work will pay attention to improving classified roads including the construction of 23 bridges, renovation of 719km-long roads, and construction of a 7.3km-long bypass in Thala.
In the meantime, there are plans for road infrastructure works worth $112 million around Zaghouan during 2016. The plans include 22km extension of the No.133 Regional Road linking Zaghouan and Djebel-Oust, as well as 28km extension of the Route National between Siliana and El Fahs. Others include surfacing an 11km-long segment of the road connecting Ben Arous and Zaghouan.
